Genus Pararchidendron Family Fabaceae

Description: Trees or shrubs, unarmed; trunk cylindrical not buttressed.

Leaves alternate, bipinnate, glands on petiole, primary and secondary rachises; pinnae opposite, pinnules alternate along secondary rachis; stipules not spinescent.

Inflorescences axillary, head-like corymbs, many-flowered; peduncles often paired, shorter than leaves. Flowers usually 5-merous, bisexual, all uniform, subtended by bracts. Calyx cup-shaped, 5-toothed. Corolla cylindrical, 5-lobed. Stamens numerous, united in a tube about as long as corolla, free parts exserted.

Pod curved into a circle, papery, flattened, not septate, twisted on dehiscence; seeds ± ellipsoid, black, shiny, without an aril.
