Genus Pteridium Family Dennstaedtiaceae

Description: Terrestrial ferns; rhizome long-creeping, much branched, covered with simple hairs.

Stipe of fronds stout; lamina much divided, at least 3-pinnate, triangular in outline, leathery, covered with hairs and/or small chaffy scales.

Sori marginal, linear, mostly continuous; indusium 2-lipped, the inner true indusium is membranous and the outer false indusium is composed of the recurved margin of the lamina.
