Leaves alternate, lamina with coloured dots or streaks in lamina.
Flowers usually in terminal or axillary panicles or racemes. Flowers mostly 5-merous. Calyx deeply lobed. Corolla deeply lobed.
Fruit a drupe, 1-seeded.
Distribution and occurrence: World: 40 species, Australia, New Guinea, Vanuatu, New Caledonia & Fiji. Australia: 2 species, Qld, N.S.W.
