Bertya cunninghamii subsp. cunninghamii Planch. APNI*

Description: Shrub 1.5–3 m high, glabrous, branches slender, ± viscid.

Leaves petiolate, petioles up to 0.6 mm long, glabrous; lamina narrow-linear, 10–20 mm long, 0.6–0.9 mm wide; upper surface green, glabrous and smooth; lower surface white, densley stellate-hairy; apex rounded; base cuneate; margins recurved to midrib concealing lower surface, with a small gland either side of midrib near base of lamina.

Flowers small; peduncles 1–2 mm long; bracts 4–7, 1–1.5 mm long, thick, narrow, unequal. Perianth segments 2–3 mm long; male segments ovate-oblong; female segments ovate to triangular, not enlarging under capsule. Male flowers with androecium 3.7–4.2 mm long; stamens 38–56. Female flowers sessile or pedicellate; pedicels up to 2.5 mm long. Ovary glabrous; styles shortly united or almost free, deeply bifid or trifid.

Capsule 6–8 mm long, glabrous. Seed c. 4–6 mm long.

Flowering: most of the year.

Distribution and occurrence: Confined to central New South Wales from the Cobar and Nyngan areas south to the Wyalong district and east to Forbes. CWS, NWP, SWP.

Found in Callitris woodland and mallee communities.
NSW subdivisions: NT, ST, NWS, CWS, NWP, SWP
Other Australian states: Vic.
