Description: Erect or decumbent annual with stems 3–10 cm long, much-branched.

Leaves ± narrow-lanceolate, mostly 3–8 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, often red-brown; sessile.

Inflorescences elongate, thyrsoid; pedicels to 8 mm long in fruit. Flowers mainly 5-merous. Calyx lobes 1.5–2.5 mm long. Corolla white to cream, lobes 1.5–2 mm long. Carpel scales cuneate to T-shaped.

Follicles dehiscing by an apical pore; seeds 4–12.


Distribution and occurrence: Usually grows in moist places.
