Description: Spinose shrub to 3 m high, branched, sometimes spines sparse.
Leaves often clustered on short spine-tipped branches, lamina elliptic, 1–1.5 cm long, 5–8 mm wide, margins usually bluntly toothed, glabrous or with veins hairy, veins obscure, not impressed above.
Male inflorescences 1–4 cm long, dense. Female flower solitary on peduncle 2–3 cm long, bract 4 mm diam.
Fruit c. 3 mm diam.
Distribution and occurrence: in dry rainforest north from Casino.
