Description: Stoloniferous perennial to c. 25 cm high.
Leaves with sheath loose, sometimes hairy along the margins and at the orifice; ligule a fring of hairs c. 0.5 mm long; blade linear, 1–2 mm wide.
Panicle axis c. 1.5 cm long, with 3–6 spikelets; pedicels 4–7 mm long. Spikelets 3–4 mm long, c. 1.5 mm wide. Lower glume ovate, 5–7-nerved, 2–3 mm long, acute; upper glume elliptic, 9-nerved, 3–4 mm long, as long as the spikelet, sometimes with a few tubercle-based hairs at the mid region. Lower lemma c. 3 mm long; palea as long as the lemma; upper lemma c. 1.5 mm long, sometimes apiculate; palea as long as the lemma. Lodicules c. 0.3 mm long. Caryopsis not seen.
Flowering: spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in moist understorey of Casuarina glauca forest and also in the king tide zone above mangrove forest; confined to the Coffs Harbour district, rare.
