Description: Monecious aquatic herb.
Leaves not tapering distally; auricles 1.5–2 mm long; leaf margin entire; apex acute or acuminate.
Female flowers with pedicel 0.5–1(-1.5) mm long, not projecting beyond leaf-sheath; stigmas narrow, obliquely funnel-shaped, c. 0.2 mm long, margin irregular. Male flowers with scales 3-lobed; anther mass 6-locular; pedicel 3–5 mm long at anthesis.
Fruits smooth, 2–2.5 mm long (excluding style); fruiting pedicel not extended, so fruit usually enclosed by leaf-sheath.
Flowering: Flowers Sep.–February(-April)
Distribution and occurrence: Known from South Coast and North Far Western Plains; also Vic., Tas., SA. and WA. Grows in shallow ephemeral saline lakes and brackish water.
