Description: Low spreading annual, monoecious.
Leaves obovate to elliptic, to 35 mm long, apex acute to obtuse, margins entire to sinuate; petiolate.
Flowers axillary, solitary or in clusters. Fruiting bracteoles truncate, 3–5-lobed at the apex with a swollen lower portion, to c. 3 mm long (rarely longer), subsessile; appendages 0–3, small, tooth-like, on each bracteole; usually some appendages present.
Distribution and occurrence: in a wide range of habitats in drier inland areas.
