Description: Erect annual herb to 30 cm high, monoecious.
Leaves to c. 20 mm long, apex obtuse, margins toothed or sinuate.
Flowers in axillary clusters. Fruiting bracteoles roughly triangular or rhombic, deeply lobed, the central lobe usually more prominent than the lateral lobes, 5–6 mm long and c. as wide; appendages with 3 or more lobes, one on each bracteole, 2–3 mm long.
Distribution and occurrence: Usually only common after good rains.
