Description: Spreading annual to c. 30 cm high, monoecious.
Leaves obovate, to 25 mm long, apex acute, margins sinuate to entire; petiolate.
Flowers in axillary clusters. Fruiting bracteoles 6–8 mm long with 3 subequal terminal teeth and a stipe-like base; appendages 1 on each bracteole, inflated, from two-thirds to almost as long as the bracteole, covered with large numbers of papillae scattered over the surface.
Distribution and occurrence: Rare, in scattered habitats.
