Description: Shrub to 2 m high; stems grey or brown with a fine woolly and glandular indumentum.
Leaves lanceolate to ovate, 1–3 cm long, 3–7 mm wide, apex obtuse or acute and mucronate, margins scarcely recurved, upper surface glabrous and shiny, lower surface whitish to rusty-tomentose.
Inflorescence a pyramidal panicle to 10 cm long and 6 cm wide. Heads linear or narrow-campanulate, 3–4 mm long, c. 1 mm diam.; involucral bracts in 3 or 4 imbricate rows, loose, ovate, hyaline, the tips opaque white. Florets 1–2, cream or pale brown.
Achenes 0.6 mm long, minutely glandular-pubescent; pappus 2 mm long.
Flowering: autumn–winter.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in sclerophyll forest on basalt or conglomerate, at high altitudes; Border Ranges.
