Description: Compact, tufted, cushion-like herb, leaves suberect.
Leaves narrow-triangular to lanceolate, < 6 mm long, rigid, apex acicular but not pungent, margins not thickened.
Pedicels slender, 3–10 mm long, at least as long as calyx. Sepals broad-triangular, c. 3 mm long, acuminate.
Capsule c. 3 mm long, as long as calyx; seeds yellowish brown with minute wrinkles.
Flowering: summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Forming mats in the moist areas of alpine herbfields; also colonizes disturbed areas.
