Description: Terrestrial herb

Leaf 15–25 mm long, 12–20 mm wide, upper surface green, lower surface silvery-green.

Flower erect, dark reddish and white, 14–17 mm long. Dorsal sepal obovate to spathulate, cucullate, 18–25 mm long, 12–15 mm wide, dark reddish. Lateral sepals linear, c. 5 mm long, c. 0.4 mm wide. Petals linear, falcate, c. 3.5 mm long, c. 0.4 mm wide. Labellum lamina almost circular, 10–13 mm long, 14–20 mm wide, the margins forward swept and orientated to the front, with numerous triangular teeth; boss white, conspicuous, mounded; auricles oblique.


Flowering: Jun–Sep.

Distribution and occurrence: Widespread and common in Tasmania, north across Bass Stait including Flinders Island, King Island, etc, coastal southern and eastern Victoria and higher country in southern eastern New South Wales including the ACT as far north as Barrington Tops, from near sea level in the south to 1500 m elevation at the northern end of the distribution.

In heath, coastal scrub and tall wet sclerophyll forest, often forming extensive colonies under ferns and low shrubs.

Corybas diemenicus is similar to C. dilatatus but differs by the labellum margins being forward-swept (versus spreading), and the longer labellum tube (10-11 mm versus 5-7 mm).
