Cryptandra spinescens Sieber ex DC. APNI*
Description: Straggling much-branched shrub to 1 m high, smaller lateral branches nearly all < 10 mm long and spinescent.
Leaves obovate to lanceolate, usually 2–4 mm, rarely to 8 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, ± glabrous; stipules minute.
Inflorescence spike-like, usually on short lateral branches. Hypanthium glabrous in basal half, silky-pubescent above; bracts below flower.
Flowering: winter to early spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Often in rocky sites, usually in open forest. Mostly on the coast and adjacent ranges from the Hunter Valley south to Wollongong and southwest to Tulibigeal.
