Hybanthus floribundus (Lindl.) F.Muell. APNI*

Description: Perennial woody herb or shrub to 1.5 m high, glabrous or scabrous.

Leaves linear, oblong or lanceolate, 0.5–3.5 cm long, margins ± recurved; stipules linear.

Inflorescence many-flowered or sometimes flowers solitary. Sepals mostly 1–4 mm long, blue, white or green; inner 2 petaloid and larger than the outer 3. Petals pale blue or mauve and cream; lower petal narrow-spathulate, 4–8 mm long; upper petals 1.5–3 mm long, 1-veined; lateral petals broad-oblong, 2.5–4 mm long, 3-veined.

Capsule to 8 mm long; seeds smooth or reticulate.

Flowering: spring and summer.

Distribution and occurrence: Grows on dunes in mallee communities in western districts or on rocky slopes.
