Ischaemum triticeum R.Br. APNI* 
Description: Decumbent trailing perennial rooting and branching at the nodes, the stems to 2 m long.
Leaves with sheath glabrous or hairy; ligule 1–3 mm long, usually hairy; blade 6–12 mm wide, usually glabrous.
Racemes 2 or 3, 6–12 cm long, tardily exserted; internodes and pedicels flattened, hairy on the edges. Sessile spikelets 6–10 mm long. Lower glume smooth, glabrous, c. 7–9-nerved, winged on the keels towards the apex, the wings c. 1 mm wide; upper as long as the lower, c. 7–9-nerved, keeled, the keel winged above, the wing c. 1 mm wide. Lower lemma a little shorter than the glumes, c. 7-nerved, male, with a palea; upper c. 5-nerved, with an awn 8–12 mm long. Pedicellate spikelet a little narrower than the sessile, the awn shorter, both florets male.
Flowering: summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows on coastal sand dunes; north from Bonny Hills (Laurieton).
