Description: Stem subterranean, 18–28 cm diam.

Leaves 2–7 in crown, 35–65 cm long, rachis not twisted to moderately twisted; pinnae 60–90, simple or rarely dichotomously branched, distinctly discolorous, dark to mid-green or grey-green, dull to semi-glossy; longest pinnae10–18 cm long, 4–7 mm wide, basal pinnae not reduced to spines; petiole 9–16 cm long.

Male cones 14–19 cm long, 4.5–5.5 cm diam.; spines 0.1–1 cm long. Female cones 10–15 cm long, 6–8 cm diam.; spines 0.2–2.5 cm long; seeds ovoid, 2.5–3.1 cm long, 2.2–2.6 cm wide, red.


Distribution and occurrence: An isolated rare species in low dry sclerophyll woodland on sandy soil over acid granite, near Inverell.
