Description: Erect perennial to 1 m high, dioecious; branches hairy.
Leaves semiterete, to 15 mm long, hairy, ± succulent.
Flowers solitary, unisexual. Fruiting perianth pale to dark brown when dry; tube glabrous, hemispherical; horizontal wing c. 10 mm diam., with indistinct venation; radial slit mostly absent, less commonly present. Well-drained sandy or loamy plains.
