Description: Erect or decumbent low shrub to 1.5 m high, with stems red-brown, smooth or finely striate, to 15 mm diam.

Leaves with lamina broad-ovate to semicircular, 2–12 cm long and wide, strongly glaucous, margins flat or slightly undulate, usually not crisped; petiole 1–6 cm long.

Inflorescences concentrated towards apex of main branches, 4–20 cm long. Perianth occasionally succulent. Anthers 1.0–1.7 mm long.

Achene trigonous to triquetrous, 3–5 mm long, black, ± dull, strongly transversely wrinkled.
