Description: Erect to spreading annual or biennial with glabrous to hairy stems.
Leaves ovate, elliptic to obovate or oblanceolate, 15–25 mm long, 4–13 mm wide, obtuse with a pungent mucro.
Bracts spinescent with ovate bases, outer one 3–5.5(-7.5) mm long, 2 inner 5.5–8.5 mm long. Perianth segments lanceolate, outermost 7–8.5 mm long, intermediate 3–3.5 mm long, 2 innermost 2–3 mm long. Stamens 2; staminodes 2. Rainforest margins and wet situations in gullies; minor weed of wastelands.
