Poa phillipsiana Vickery APNI*
Description: Densely caespitose, generally bluish green perennial to 0.8 m high, with intravaginal innovations.
Leaves with sheath scaberulous to scabrous; ligule firm, to 0.75 mm long, truncate; blade mostly firmly inrolled and almost terete, or occasionally closely folded and compressed, rigid, subulate, c. 0.5–1.25 mm wide, usually scabrous.
Panicle 6–20 cm long, rather loosely spreading, spikelets mainly towards the end of branches. Spikelets 3–5-flowered, c. 3–4 mm long. Glumes 2–3 mm long, acute, lower 1–3-nerved, upper 3-nerved. Lemmas 2.5–3.5 mm long, usually hairy on the back in the lower half, with slightly longer hairs on the keel, lateral nerves and margin; web scanty, very rarely almost obsolete. Palea densely pubescent on the back.
Flowering: summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows on the upper and drier parts of hillsides in high montane to subalpine areas, mostly between c. 1330 and 1660 m; south from Brindabella Ra.
