Description: Herb with stems to 20 cm long.
Axillary hairs conspicuous, usually > 5 mm long.
Leaves linear, terete, 10–20 mm long. Flowers in 1–4-flowered heads. Petals 15–20 mm long, yellow. Stamens usually > 30. Capsules and seeds not seen.
Flowering: summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Often cultivated as an ornamental; rarely fully naturalized. Native of S Amer.
