Synonyms: Zygophyllum emarginatum H.Eichler APNI*

Description: Spreading annual, branching from the base.

Leaflets articulate at base, cuneate to narrow-obcordate, 4–8 mm long, apex mostly distinctly emarginate.

Sepals 4. Petals 4, obovate to elliptic, 2–3 mm long, about as long as, or slightly longer than sepals, yellow. Stamens 8; filaments with ± truncate wings in lower half. Fruiting pedicels 1.5–5 mm long, recurved or spreading.

Capsule 4-angled, broad-turbinate, 5–7 mm long, base rounded, apex almost flat to widely dome-shaped with a very short appendage at top of each angle; seeds 1 or 2 per loculus.


Flowering: June–September

Distribution and occurrence: Grows on skeletal stony ridges and flats, on gibber-covered rises, in heavy stony clay; west from Bourke district, chiefly in the Milparinka area. Also in SW Qld, NE South Australia and SE Northern Territory.
