Ruppia tuberosa J.S.Davis & Toml. APNI* Description: Annual or short-lived perennial herb; branches usually reduced and so not obvious, up to 5(-10) mm long.
Leaves (6-)8–10 cm long, less than 0.3(-0.5) mm wide; undamaged apex obtuse to subacute; perennating swollen shoots sickle-shaped, 2–6 mm long.
Inflorescence raised to water surface on an axis which is 5–80 cm long; axis coiled after pollination; carpels (6-)8–16(-19), sessile or subsessile, with stalk not elongating.
Frutiing carpel (1.2-)1.8–2(-2.5) mm long, 0.7–1.5 mm diam.
Flowering: Flowering and fruiting Sep.–November
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in small brackish swamps, saline lakes and marshes, or on tidal flats of sheltered bays (eg. in SA & Vic.).
