Description: Erect to spreading perennial to c. 40 cm high; branches hairy.

Leaves semiterete, usually succulent, to c. 15 mm long, silky.

Fruiting perianth 2–3 mm long, covered with long silky hairs; base circular, with a small cavity; spines usually 3, rarely 4–6, 4–8 mm long, hairy.


Distribution and occurrence: Widespread in a range of habitats.
