Synonyms: Solanum elegans Dunal ex Poir. APNI*

Description: Erect shrub 0.8–1.6 m high, stellate-hairy; prickles scattered on branches, leaves and peduncles, largely absent elsewhere.

Leaves linear to lanceolate, 4–11 cm long, 0.5–1.5 cm wide, margins entire or sinuate; upper surface green and sparsely stellate-hairy, veins inset and surface often "wrinkled"; lower surface grey-white or yellowish, densely stellate-tomentose; petiole 0.3–1 cm long. Juvenile leaves to 14 cm long, shallowly lobed towards base; petiole to 4 cm long.

Inflorescences 3–6-flowered; peduncle absent or to 10 mm long; rachis to 10 mm long; pedicels 5–10 mm long. Calyx 4.5–6 mm long; lobes 1–3.5 mm long. Corolla rotate, 24–30 mm diam., purple.

Berry 11–16 mm diam., pale green.

Flowering: Chiefly spring–summer.

Distribution and occurrence: Mostly north from Barraba, with a single colection from near Bathurst.

Grows in sclerophyll forest on hills or slopes in sandy soil.
