Solanum campanulatum R.Br. APNI*
Description: Short-lived perennial shrub to 1 m high, hairy with stellate and simple glandular hairs; prickles abundant on all parts except corolla.
Leaves ovate to elliptic, mostly 8–13 cm long, 5–9 cm wide, lobed; discolorous, both surfaces green, stellate-hairy; petiole 2–5 cm long.
Inflorescences 4–10-flowered, upper flowers sometimes male; peduncle to 40 mm long; rachis to 30 mm long; pedicels 15–20 mm long. Calyx 7–12 mm long; lobes 5–8 mm long. Corolla deeply campanulate, 14–20 mm diam., lavender-purple.
Berry 20–25 mm diam., green at first, yellow at maturity, drying brown to black, half enclosed in calyx. Seeds black.
Flowering: throughout year.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows mostly in wet and dry sclerophyll forest; coastal districts and adjacent ranges north from Bargo area, and inland to Rylstone district.
