Solanum papaverifolium Symon APNI*
Description: Erect or sprawling perennial herb with annual branches to 0.3 m high; glabrous except for minute glandular hairs on young growth; prickles abundant on branches, leaves, pedicels and calyx.
Leaves ovate, 4–7 cm long, 3–5 cm wide, deeply lobed, lobes 1–2 cm long, margins toothed or lobed; both surfaces green and glabrous; petiole 1–1.5 cm long.
Inflorescences 1–6-flowered; peduncle 10–60 mm long; rachis 10–20 mm long; pedicels 10–20 mm long. Calyx 5–8 mm long; lobes 3–5 mm long. Corolla stellate, c. 20 mm diam., purple.
Berry 10–12 mm diam., greenish yellow with faint green stripes.
Flowering: late spring to autumn.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in heavy clay soils, frequently as a weed of cereal crops, north from Singleton area.
