Solanum sarrachoides Sendtn. APNI* Description: Annual or short-lived perennial herb to 1 m high, pubescent with septate, glandular hairs; prickles absent.
Leaves broad-obovate, 6.5–9 cm long, 3.5–7 cm wide, margins sinuate-dentate with 5–9 lobes, ± concolorous, both surfaces green, sparsely and ± equally hairy; petiole slightly winged in the upper part, usually 1.5–4.5 cm long.
Inflorescences umbel-like, mostly 3–4-flowered; peduncle to 5 mm long; pedicels 3–13 mm long in flower, longer in fruit. Calyx (in flower) 3–6 mm long; lobes narrow, 3–5 mm long. Corolla stellate, 5-angled, 5–7.5 mm diam., white with a yellow centre.
Berry 6–9 mm diam., pale green; fruiting calyx enclosing fruit at first, lobes 5.5–8 mm long.
Flowering: Flowers summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Recorded only from Montague Island. Native of S. Amer. Grows in sandy soil near the sea.
