Description: Shrub to 3 m high, mostly glabrous; prickles absent.
Leaves elliptic to lanceolate, 7–18 cm long, 2–4.5 cm wide, margins entire; both surfaces green and glabrous except for hairy domatia on lower surface; petiole 1–2.5 cm long, ± winged.
Inflorescences 5–10-flowered; peduncle 2–10 mm long; pedicels 10–15 mm long. Calyx 2–3 mm long; lobes 0.5–1 mm long. Corolla deeply incised, to 15 mm diam., white.
Berry globose, 10–15 mm diam., orange-yellow when mature. Fruiting pedicels deflexed, 19–23 mm long.
Flowering: Summer.
Distribution and occurrence: North from Lismore district; Queensland. A Paleotropical species that is possibly introduced. Grows in disturbed rainforest on basaltic soils along tracks, roads and in clearings.
