Common name: Chinese Wisteria, Zi Teng
Wisteria sinensis (Sims) DC. APNI* Description: Woody climber.
Compound, 7–13-foliolate; leaflet blades 5–8 cm long, 2–4 cm wide, appressed pubescent when young, glabrescent with age.
Inflorescence terminal or axillary, racemose. Calyx with one lobe longer than the others.Flowers 20–25 mm diam., fragrant, usually purple, but sometimes white; standard ordicular.
Fruit oblanceolate, 10–15 cm long, tomentose. Seeds 1–3 per fruit, ca. 15 mm diam.
Flowering: Spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Naturalised in a few places around Sydney and Armidale, possibly more commonly natiralised but overlooked. Native to China.

Three varieties are recognised in China, but Australian plants are all derived from cultivation and the variety names have not been applied here.
