Description: Compact or diffuse shrub usually 15–60 cm high; stems terete, 4-angled or ridged, hairy.
Leaves in whorls of 4–6, rarely fewer at base of stems, linear, 3–15 mm long and usually < 1 mm wide, often recurved, margins revolute often covering the midrib; sessile.
Flowers solitary; peduncles 6–15 mm long. Sepals 1.5–2 mm long. Petals 5–10 mm long, deep lilac-pink. Ovary hairy, rarely glabrous; ovules 2.
Fruit ± beaked, broad-elliptic to ± obovate, c. 6 mm long; seeds not seen.
Flowering: mostly August–November
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in sandy heath and dry sclerophyll forest; chiefly in the Sydney district, south to Robertson.
