Genus Diplocyclos Family Cucurbitaceae

Description: Climbing or trailing herb, glabrous or pubescent; monoecious. Tendrils 2-branched.

Leaves simple, deeply palmately lobed. Male and female flowers in axillary sessile clusters or racemes, sexes in separate axils or co-axillary. Hypanthium bell-shaped. Corolla deeply 5-lobed. Anthers 3, two 2-locular, one 1-locular; loculi flexuous. Staminodes 3.

Fruit fleshy, indehiscent; seeds obovate, few.


Distribution and occurrence: World: 4 species, 1 species pantropical, 3 species tropical Africa. Australia: 1 species (native).
