Description: Shrub to 2 m high, with upper branches often widely forked.

Leaves ovate, to 12 cm long and c. 5 cm wide, frequently smaller, glabrous; petiole 1–4 cm long.

Flowers solitary, rarely 2 in each axil; fruiting pedicel 15–35 mm long. Corolla c. 15 mm diam., white. Ovary 2.5 mm long.

Berry erect, globose or ovoid to oblong-conical, to 25 mm long, 5–10 mm diam., bright orange-red.


Flowering: summer.

Distribution and occurrence: Usually grows in moist situations, only collected in N.S.W. from near Gunnedah. Native of trop. Amer.
