Utricularia dichotoma subsp. maritima R.W.Jobson APNI*

Description: Terrestrial perennial herb. Stolons numerous, branched. Rhizoids numerous, simple.

Leaves linear to spatulate, with a single vein; apex rounded.

Inflorescences solitary, erect; peduncle 100–320(–520) mm long; bracts and bracteoles narrowly ovate with apex acute, basal spur narrow with a rounded apex; corolla 7–15 mm long, violet with 2 or 3 prominent yellow ridges basally; upper lip obovate, compressed near the middle; lower lip equal to or slightly longer than the corolla spur.

Capsule globose, c. 5 mm long.

Flowering: October–February.

Distribution and occurrence: Widespread from the Darling Downs of Queensland, south to Victoria and Tasmania and west as far as Kangaroo Island in South Australia.

Found mostly in heathy swamps and associated creeks on coastal slopes and plains.

Possibly forms hybrids with subsp. fontana in the Tenterfield area of the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales (R. W. Jobson, pers. obs.) and overlaps in distribution with subsp. dichotoma in the South Coast and Tablelands regions of New South Wales
