Description: Terrestrial herb, 25–45 cm high.

Leaf 30–40 cm long, bright green with white to reddish base.

Inflorescence 15–45-flowered, moderately crowded. Flowers dark greenish brown to dark brownish red with greenish to greenish pink labellum, fragrant. Dorsal sepal ovate-lanceolate, 8–11 mm long, 3.5–4.5 mm wide, deflexed to decurved. Lateral sepals free, linear-lanceolate, 8–11 mm long, c. 2 mm wide. Lateral petals widely spreading, linear-lanceolate, 8.5–11.5 mm long, c. 2 mm wide. Labellum stalked; lamina 7.5–8.5 mm long, 4.5–5.5 mm wide, broadly ovate-lanceolate when flattened, obliquely erect in proximal half, recurved at right angle near the middle; apex not projecting between the lateral sepals, the margins widely flared, irregular. Callus plate fleshy, with a shallow median channel, c. 6.5 mm long, c. 3 mm wide, green to brown, glabrous.

Flowering: December–January

Distribution and occurrence: Restricted to the area between Cathcart and Tantawangalo, SE NSW.

Grows in grassland and in shrubby, grassy flats and in montane swamps dominated by Cyperaceae and Restionaceae, on well structured brown basaltic loams to brown or black peaty loams. Alt. c. 900-1000 m.
