Description: Subaquatic perennial herb. Stolons few. Rhizoids numerous, capillary.

Leaves large, 30–60 mm long, lamina 15–40 mm long, obovate with apex rounded or more often truncate, multiveined (2–13). Traps few from peduncle base and stolon nodes, 1.5–2.5 mm long, stalked, dimorphic, ovoid or globose; mouth lateral; dorsal appendage subulate, simple; lateral appendages with fimbriate margin; ventral wings present or absent; margin entire or undulate.

Inflorescences solitary, erect; peduncle 200–400 mm long, 0.7–1.3 mm thick; flowers in opposite pairs or in a whorl; bract and bracteoles basifixed, nongibbous at base; pedicels erect, 2.5–15 mm long. Calyx lobes unequal; upper lobe circular or broadly ovate, 3–4 mm long; lower lobes similar but emarginate. Corolla 11–16 mm long, mauve; upper lip erect, obcordate, compressed near middle; apex deeply bilobed; lower lip transversely elliptic, with apex rounded, with 3 raised, yellow ridges basally; spur broad, dorsi-ventrally compressed, shorter than lower lip.

Capsule globose, 4–5 mm long. Seeds obovoid, c. 0.75 mm long.


Flowering: October–January

Distribution and occurrence: Endemic to central and mid-northern coast of New South Wales.

Known from only four populations restricted to wallum swamps and lagoons.
